Cross pollination

Cross pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther of one plant to the stigma of another plant. There two agents of cross pollination are insects and wind.

Flying insects, visit flowers to collect sugary liquid called nectar produced at the base of the flower.

Pollen grains from the flower’s anther stick to hairs on the insect and are carried to the stigma of a flowers of another plant of the same species.
